| NEW HEAVEN AND EARTH |

CONGRATULATIONS! You’ve made it all the way through this special edition of BibleTogether, where we read through the whole history of redemption together. What an amazing story of God’s promise and rescue, through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The End of the History

This beautiful passage is where all of history has been moving since God first promised rescue from sin and death. God has been moving to create a people for himself. We see it explicitly in verse 3, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.”

And how appropriate to see how tenderly God cares for his people, wiping their tears and comforting them that their suffering and trial is no more.

Even so, there is a warning at the end of this passage for those who have not believed. The promises of redemption and rescue are only for those who trust in Christ, in faith, turn away from sin, and believe that God will forgive sin on the basis of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross.

I do hope that all who have read with us in the past four months will reflect and consider today. Have you turned in the name of the Lord for the forgiveness of sin? Do you believe that he alone rescues from sin and death, or do you continue to cry out, “On my own, I can live.”

Praise God, that we are not left to save ourselves. Neither are we left to the fleeting pleasures of this world. We may live according to the good news of the Gospel and the way of the kingdom of God.
